School Days Jacket

Yesterday I started my "big" project: the Oliver + S School Days Jacket.  I am beyond excited about this jacket -- I ordered the pattern the first day it was released earlier this fall.  Yesterday morning, I cut out all the fabric while Dag was at preschool (and have a callus on my thumb to prove it).  I sewed half of the hood before he woke up from his nap.  I should be able to finish the hood today.  This project is my biggest and most advanced so far.  I'm terrified of ruining it along the way but hopefully if I go slowly and pay careful attention, it will turn out beautifully.

Here's the fabric I'm using:

The jacket will be made from the blue double face wool melton (purchased from fabric.com).  The lining will be made from the green polka dot and the stripes will be used for the removable quilted vest (both cotton fabrics by Lecien).  Don't you love that the pattern includes a removable quilted vest?

I'm simply giddy about this jacket!
