This is actually the second pouch. The first one was too small. It fits a credit card. No joke. I based my pattern around the little sleeve the camera was packaged in, plus a seam allowance but it didn't work. I added another half inch for the re-do and the camera fits (barely).
Mostly I've been procrastinating this week. Not procrastinating in general -- I've actually been quite busy around the house with January cleaning, trying out some new recipes from Yankee Magazine's Church Suppers cookbook, and catching up laundry. I've been procrastinating my next big project:
That's right folks: I'm sewing a button-up shirt for my husband. It was supposed to be a birthday present but his birthday was last week. I thought it would be easy since I sewed a similar shirt for Dagim. But now I'm thinking this is a whole new ballgame. I'm very nervous. I want it to turn out nice. I want him to want to wear it (and take off his coat). Today I decided enough is enough and I got to work. First up: tracing the pattern:
Tracing patterns is one of my least favorite parts of the sewing process. But it seems silly to cut out one size and ruin the other sizes for future use. I've read about Swedish tracing paper that is very durable and can actually be sewn through but it's quite expensive. Instead, I went to my local art supply store and picked up a big roll of tracing paper (a seemingly lifetime supply for about $10). It works just fine.
Next up is cutting the fabric. Then the fun begins! I'm hoping this doesn't turn into the "Gordon Gartrell" shirt that Denise sewed for Theo on The Cosby Show. A friend of mine reminded me of that this week. Do you remember that episode? You should definitely go check it out on YouTube: here.
Let's hope that Chris's shirt turns out better than Theo's!
