8 months later...

And we're living in China.  I've decided to return to this space to write about our life here in Xiamen.  We've been here for a little over one month.  We are settling in.  We have something that resembles a routine.  I'm sewing again.  Chris is working (teaching English at the international school here).  Dag is making new friends and charming the men that fish in the lake near our apartment. 

A few friends requested that I start the blog up again so they could read about life here (emails to friends and family back home have been sparse, at best).  I thought about it, spruced up the blog and then didn't post.  But, I know at some point I'll wish that I recorded all this -- this new life abroad.  It's certainly an adventure.  Each day brings something new and interesting.  Some days are frustrating.  Other days are wonderful.

So, my plan is to share the little day to day things on this blog.  As well as crafty projects and hopefully some recipes too (one of the most frustrating aspects of life here so far is the food -- why didn't I pack a suitcase full of chocolate chips and tortillas?).

I promise to try and be a much better blogger.  While I think the best bloggers blog every day, I'm shooting for two or three times a week.  I hope you'll join me again!
