kcwc: day three

As day three of Kids Clothing Week Challenge draws to an end (well, it's nearing dinner time anyway and I'm useless in terms of sewing in the evening), my completed project count is one.  The overalls are done!  The pattern is The Overmost from Whipstitch.

I think the style is super-cute -- definitely something I would have bought at a store.  I had a little difficulty with the pants -- the front was longer than the back so I had to cut a bit off.  I think it's my  fault (not the pattern itself) and happened when I taped the sheets of paper together (another reason why I'm not a huge fan of PDF patterns).  The next time I make these, I will lengthen the torso and straps an inch or two so there is more growing room.

The pockets were a hit:

Here's a picture of my new labels which crack me up every time I use them:

And for those of you wondering where some pictures of China are, here are some pictures of Dag on a visit to a local temple a few weeks ago.  I missed out on this little adventure.  We went again on Sunday but as soon as we got off the bus I had a stomachache so the only places I got acquainted with were the bathrooms at the bookstore and McDonald's.  Then we waited and waited to find a taxi willing to take us back to our neighborhood.  A woman tried to steal our taxi and Chris nearly pushed her out of the way (in his defense, I really wasn't feeling well) and then a couple tried to push us out of the taxi.  Oh the joys of living in China!

Here's Dag at the temple entrance (pretending to be a lion in the first picture):

And gazing at the gardens:

But back to sewing.  For those of you wondering whether I started the Sketchbook Shirt today the answer is no.  Instead I went for a massage with some friends while the dads took the kids on a hike up a little mountain.  The massage was 1.5 hours long and ridiculously cheap (I wouldn't be surprised to find myself there every week).  It started with a foot soak in hot tea, a shoulder massage, then a foot massage (with rose oil) which included some crazy hot suction cups on my feet (ouch!), then moved onto legs, back, arms and ended with a bag of hot stones on my back and stomach.

All in all, a lovely Mid-Autumn Day!

The massage also sounds great. Suction cups, though? :-0
